RedPrairie adds asset tracking to portfolio
Tracking of mobile assets including vehicles has been added to the portfolio of RedPrairie, the Canadian supply-chain software company that leapt to the world number two slot when it acquired the UK's LIS earlier this year. DLx MRM, a Web-based system, is more a range of products than a single solution. It uses barcodes, RFID and other "advanced sensory devices" to provide real-time visibility on asset location, plus status and other key indicators. The company says it can track a range of items including returnable pallets and containers, equipment, trailers and other high-value assets. Prior to the RedPrairie acquisition, LIS was already expanding into visibility products and supply-chain execution, and the new tracking solution seems to sit logically within that expanding portfolio.
