Destiny looks Stateside as Cobra takes 5,000 pens
Destiny Wireless, the company marketing Anoto digital pen technology in Britain, South Africa and Australia, is soon to launch in America as well, according to chief executive Edward Belgeonne. It is not clear yet what form the involvement will take, but he told m.logistics plans were at an advanced stage. The company is also understood to be looking at deals in mainland Europe. Meanwhile, Destiny continues to roll out new UK applications of the technology, including its biggest implementation yet, which is with the Cobra Group, a "face-to-face" marketing specialist. Cobra is taking a total of 5,000 digital pens under a contract valued at over £2 million. Cobra's chief operating officer Paul Sanderson says trials with the Destiny package showed that the company could make massive savings in time and costs, and increase sales by 10 to 15 per cent. "Minimal training was required to use the digital pens," he says, "and the team are able to use the device as a 'talking point' in the sales process." Cobra has also agreed to work with Destiny to market and sell its technology and services in the face-to-face marketing and direct sales arena on a global basis. Cobra operates in 21 countries, and is reckoned to be the world leader in its field.
