Real-time POD system clicks with courier company
Following trials with 20 Talecom real-time proof-of-delivery systems, Peterborough-based Klicka Couriers is to invest in no fewer than 1,000 of the units, equipping its entire fleet. The company had tried other systems, but managing director Paul Grice says they proved limited and unreliable, and it reverted to a manual system. But following the introduction of Talecom's Wireless Delivered system, "the results have been amazing," he says. "It's an extremely stable and reliable system, and the tracking element is extremely useful. The drivers have all commented that it makes their lives easier. "Operationally, it has enabled us to enhance our service levels substantially. An email can now be sent automatically to customers within a matter of seconds of the package having been delivered. "Best of all is the impact on our bottom line. We estimate that by using it on top of our own business model, we are effectively doubling our profitability." Klicka is one of Britain's fastest-growing couriers, and has recently entered into a strategic partnership with Palletways, the leading pallet distribution network, which aims to offer a "one-stop shop" for courier services to a nationwide customer base.
