Gotive handheld upgrade
A new version of the distinctive landscape-format Gotive H41 handheld terminal from the Czech Republic has been announced by Spirit Data Capture, the Cheshire-based successor to Commitment, the previous Gotive supplier. The new version's RAM capacity has been doubled to 64MB, and it now supports both SD and MMC memory cards. And the unit's wireless local-area network signal range has been extended to 180 metres in the open air, to provide wider and faster coverage. Two new options can now be added to the unit - an integral smartcard reader and Destinator 3, a GPS-based navigation system. A serial interface is now offered in a new RS version of the H41. This supports RS232/422/485 standards, and allows items such as electronic measuring devices to be connected to the unit.
The Gotive incorporates Bluetooth technology, and can now be used with Extech mobile thermal and receipt printers - making it ideal for any mobile workers who need to take payments, produce receipts or produce labels. New developers' kits are now available from Spirit, and various add-ons are offered, including a docking station and an accessories pack. The latest model comes with a new lightweight carrying case, and an optional travel charger is also available.
