TNT Express outsources handheld maintenance
TNT Express has chosen Orderlogic for a major £1.5 million contract to handle repairs, testing and maintenance of its auto-identification and scanning devices across the UK and Ireland. It is a massive operation, involving 12,000 devices used at 70 TNT Express Services depots, and includes management of the company's UK buffer stock, as well as all asset and warranty management activities. The agreement also includes software management, along with a technical services help line for all UK depot locations. According to Paul Beedell, voice communications services manager at TNT Express Services UK: "Orderlogic's performance in trials was exemplary on every count." He adds: "We're already seeing significant improvements in our operations as a result of their efforts." The agreement is said to have released TNT to focus on core service improvement projects. "Our objective is to achieve service enhancement at a reduced cost," Beedell says. The contract underpins a drive by Orderlogic to expand into new vertical market sectors. Its parent, Triage Services, is already strong in retail, but is keen to capitalise on the increasing adoption of auto-ID in related markets such as transport and logistics.
