Tracking for Newhams gritters
As the season for gritting gets under way, the London borough of Newham is one local authority that will know where its gritting vehicles are from moment to moment. The organisation has installed the Masternaut telematics system in all its Whale-bodied DAF grit spreader vehicles. It is intended to ensure that vehicles can be allocated in the most effective way, meeting the latest legislative requirements. In the event of any disputes, it should also provide proof of how vehicles were deployed. The council says it liked the fact that Masternaut could be tailored to its requirements, yet needed no software, as access is provided over the Web.
