Rugged handhelds for tracking system
Tracking and fleet management specialist Masternaut is now offering rugged handheld computers from HHP's Dolphin range as part of its tracking solutions set. The Dolphins link to Masternaut's M-Schedule and M-Delivery despatch systems, playing a role in real-time job booking, despatch and reporting systems. New jobs simply pop up on the Dolphin's screen with route details. In addition, with connection to onboard GPS satellite receivers, step-by-step navigation can be provided to the next location. Masternaut already offered PDAs with its systems, but the addition of ruggedised versions, still running the same underlying Microsoft Pocket PC operating system, is seen as adding appeal for users in harsher environments. According to newly appointed operation director Charles Hewson: "Many customers in areas such as construction, field engineering and delivery need a truly rugged device that they can use in-cab but also take on site."
