Ceramic tile distributor Creta Ceramica says it has been saving 10 per cent on it transport costs since introducing Masternaut's TourSolver routing and scheduling software and Web-based live vehicle tracking.

Transport planning had previously been a manual process, says warehouse and distribution manager Mike Farr. He expects further costs savings through reduced reliance on agency vehicles, and because the live tracking features allow managers to re-route vehicles in real time to respond to special requests or to avoid traffic congestion.

"With live information on the fleet we always feel in touch with what is going on," says Farr. "It is especially useful when we get called by a customer awaiting a delivery as we know exactly where the vehicle is and when it is likely to arrive."
