TNT extends use of data-only network

Express parcels company TNT UK has extended its use of Transcomm's data-only network in a deal worth £1.25 million over the next five years. The Transcomm network will be at the heart of TNT's global MobileWorker initiative, which aims to give all TNT workers the same access to corporate systems as office-based colleagues. In the pipeline are plans allow employees to switch automatically from Transcomm's Network to a wireless RF network.

Transcomm's Airpack Gateway middleware supports the hardware-independent MobileWorker network and will optimise the way TNT's data is sent across the Transcomm network by selecting the most efficient route and reducing the company's air time network costs.
