Vodafone has given a global launch to its extended third-generation consumer mobile phone service, which it is branding "Vodafone live! with 3G". This picks up on the Vodafone Live! Brand launched for existing services two years ago. Vodafone's Mobile Connect 3G data service has already been operating for some months.

Vodafone live! with 3G is very much consumer-oriented, offering users a plethora of multimedia attractions such as movie and music downloads, as well as seamless "hand-over" of voice and data services between 2G and 3G networks. Handsets suitable for the service will come with 32MB of memory as standard.

The company says it expects over 10 million customers to be using Vodafone live! with 3G around the world by March 2006.
