Telematics services provider Cybit has added real-time GRPS vehicle tracking to its Fleetstar-Online service. The on-board data capture unit collects data every twenty seconds, and until now Cybit has relied on GSM mobile networks to relay the data to its servers. However, with more fleets demanding continual positional updates and real-time reporting, says Cybit, a GPRS option was needed. The entry-level GSM reporting remains available as well.

The latest release of Fleetstar-Online also offers a variety of additional functionality, including support for Government-based road-charging systems including Germany's TollCollect. Activity monitoring is also increased, with recording of use of ancillary equipment and a parameter-based Event Manager SMS alert system that informs managers when unexpected events occur.
