Enterprise integration for mobiles
Enterprise-wide software can be accessed on mobile devices with GoodAccess, a new application from Good Technology. It supports a range of mainstream system from suppliers such as Siebel and Oracle. The company already offered a product called GoodLink, which allows mobile users to communicate with corporate systems, and remains available. However, the new product is said to add a much greater level of interaction at the mobile end. Among its features are multitasking (with background processing) and offline processing. The application also allows users to organise information according to their individual preferences. Broadcasting/push-to-handheld technology is used to allow time-sensitive updates such as leads, sales reports and customer service issues to be pushed to handheld devices. Technical features include advanced end-to-end security (AES encryption, SSL, advanced password security, and the ability to erase Good applications and data remotely if a handheld is lost or stolen). The system also features Secure Over The Air (Secure OTATM) administration. Initially the product is available for Palm and Pocket PC devices, and in future it is also to be offered for the Symbian smart mobile phone operating system.
It connects to corporate back-end systems through standards such as Web services and ODBC.
