Nordics Nitro RMS deal stretches the retail proposition
Handheld terminal manufacturer Nordic ID and software developer NitroASL have announced a partnership under which they plan to develop new hardware/software bundles based on Microsoft's recently-announced Retail Management System (RMS) platform. What has this to do with mobile data? Well, more than you might think. The dividing line between data capture in the workplace and data capture in the field has always been thin, and the two companies see their joint packages as straddling that divide. They say their products should appeal to businesses who are already using RMS (or intend to deploy it), and who want to maximise return on investment by extending their applications into delivery/despatch scheduling, asset tracking and monitoring, supply logistics and service personnel management. And that's on top of real-time purchase order management, stock-taking and such activities. The NitroNordic RMS Suite "literally makes our handhelds come alive, utilises all their most advanced features and makes them instantly mission-critical devices," says Nordic ID director Thorsten Brysch.
