Rico Logistics Partnership, which is said to be the UK's biggest independent same-day courier business, has chosen DA Systems to provide a vehicle tracking and mobile data solution in what is almost certainly one of the biggest such contracts this year. The deal is worth over half a million pounds, and roll-out is due to start during February.

DA is providing its NX Mobile Data and vehicle tracking systems, with which Rico is aiming to improve efficiency in all aspects of its business. Features include electronic signature capture and real-time visibility, and the company is looking for better fleet utilisation, plus time and cost savings on telecommunications.

Rico has been working with DA for the past four years, during which time it has implemented an advanced real-time operational and back-office system and a Web-based booking and tracking system.

The carrier has a large network of offices throughout the country, and claims to be able to supply a vehicle for an express delivery almost anywhere within twenty minutes. It also offers contract distribution, warehousing and a range of related services. It is based in Slough.
