Growth in the use of two-dimensional barcode scanning is predicted by Spirit Data Capture, which has become European distributor for a US-based specialist in this field, InData Systems.

InData resells a wide range of third-party data capture equipment in the US, in some cases adding its own technology to enhance the products' inherent capabilities. For two-dimensional barcode scanning it works closely with Hand Held Products, for which Spirit is now a UK distributor.

InData Systems has engineered the optics of HHP's 4600LDS laser scanner so that it can read the 2D barcodes imprinted on different surfaces such as laser-etched barcodes on printed circuit boards and ink-jet printed codes on shiny surfaces such as foil tablet packaging.
