Navigation maps for Russia
As from April, you can get digital navigation maps for Russia, thanks to cooperation between Tele Atlas and the Roskartographia agency, which is supervised by the Ministry of Transport in Russia. The first map covers the ten districts of the city of Moscow (ten million people). St Petersburg will follow in the autumn, and Tele Atlas says coverage will be extended steadily to take in further important population and commercial centres. The new maps will be compatible with a wide range of navigation systems, Tele Atlas says, opening the way for in-vehicle navigation in the rapidly expanding Russian market. Jack Reinelt, Tele Atlas's managing director and chief operations officer for Europe, says that the company has "ambitious plans" to cover the whole country.
