Palm reinforces presence in phone market
There's no shortage of contenders for operating systems in the mobile phone market, it seems. Palm's latest contender is its Treo 650, an upgraded version of the previous 600. The company is calling it a smartphone, but you might think of it as a Palm-based PDA as well. It comes with a bright 320 by 320 pixel display, quad-band phone functionality, full QWERTY keyboard, integrated Bluetooth networking, and (just to keep options open) the ability to sync with Microsoft's Exchange Server via PalmOne VersaMail software. In the UK it's available on the Orange network, but pricing was not available when we closed for press.
