Modular telematics package from Vascotrack and Mi
A combined online fleet management and vehicle tracking system called SCES (Supply Chain Event Suite) has been launched jointly by two specialists in telematics and logistics systems, VasoTrack and Mi Services. VascoTrack is the company behind the compact V502 range of GPS units, which have integral GPRS/SMS wireless reporting. MI Services is an IT consultancy with a long history of supplying the logistics market. They have positioned the new SCES product as a modular offering, and say it offers special appeal for users who want to add a tracking and location system to tackle "gaps or issues" in their specific area of business. On the other hand, users could also dip into a wide range of existing capabilities, especially in Mi's supply-chain offering. The company says BP has been using its vendor-managed inventory system for five years to manage product worth millions of pounds. VascoTrack says the attractions of the system include adaptive reporting features that show every detail of each vehicle's journey. The system uses the Internet to deliver details of vehicle and fleet operations, and is therefore accessible from virtually any Internet-connected computer.
