Printronix launches new thermal printing platform
Printer manufacturer Printronix has launched two new thermal printers that are designed for future RFID implementation, as well as aiming to provide enhanced performance and flexibility. The Thermaline 5000r and Smartline 5000r feature a new architecture based on a 133MHZ Power PC microprocessor, with 32MB RAM and 8MB of flash memory fitted as standard. They come with a wide range of "interpreters", which are said to allow integration into legacy systems set up for other makes of barcode printer such as Zebra, SATO, Intermec, TEC and Datamax. They come in a choice of 4in, 6in and 8in wide models, with a standard choice of 203 or 300 dpi resolution.Each can print at speeds of up to 10 in per second and come with drivers for Microsoft Windows and SAP R3.
