Psion Teklogix adds RFID printing
Handheld computer and data capture specialist Psion Teklogix is continuing to build up its status as an all-round solutions provider, and in its latest move in this direction it has teamed up with printer supplier Printronix to extend its capabilities in the RFID (radio frequency identification) arena. The company says that as a result of this initiative, it will be able to market a complete RFID offering, including RFID handheld devices, RFID portals, RFID printers and RFID conveyor solutions. The RFID printers Psion will be offering include the SmartLine RFID printer, which provides "smart label" encoding, validation and an overstrike capability. It is designed on a multi-protocol platform which allows firmware updates. Psion point out that customers conducting an RFID pilot can use the SmartLine Developer's Kit to test label read rates and label placements. The RFID Smart Label Applicator solution is said to meet customer RFID compliance, in-line encoding and label application production needs.
