SupaTrak offers full tracking for under £6 a week
SupaTrak, a tracking and mobile computing system that reduces the price threshold to one of the lowest levels so far, has been launched by CMS (Courier Management Systems) of Swindon. The all-inclusive rate for the tracking and location service is just 82p per day, while that for the mobile data and communications system is 99p. While laying emphasis on the very low pricing, CMS is also keen to make it clear that you get quite a lot for your money. The price includes the hardware ("black box" GPS/GPRS modem and combined GPS/GSM antenna), plus GPS location fixes at 60-second intervals, and unlimited access to Web-based mapping, on which vehicles are visible all the time. Installation, training, support and warranty backup are also included in the price, which assumes a five-year lease. Similarly, the Mobile Worker package includes a PDA-based mobile worker client application, tailored for various vertical markets; a fully managed hosted middleware gateway to send/receive information to/from units in the field, and GPRS/3G optimised "push" technology. The company says the system is device- and network-independent, and can be integrated "with any back office system". The minimum contract for the Mobile Worker package is three years. Other options include international roaming, satellite navigation, proof of delivery management and mobile credit card authorisation. CMS is no newcomer to the world of mobile data. It has been offering GPRS-based tracking and mobile services for some years under its own branding. In the early 2000s it also briefly traded under the TIC and TicHost brands.
