Managing resources better with tracking and mobile technology
In partnership with m.logistics, Masternaut and Microsoft have teamed up for a series of transport industry seminars. The events will show how the latest technology can be used to help better manage resources 'on the road'. The first event is on 19 October 2005 at Masternaut's headquarters in Leeds, followed by a second event at Microsoft's Reading headquarters on 22 November. The seminars represent the beginning of a national road show, with monthly regional events being planned throughout next year. The first two events will look at the latest technological innovation in satellite tracking and mobile resource management. Industry experts will advise on how businesses can improve their services and better manage tasks such as meeting employment regulations. One of the hot topics will be the Road Transport Working Time Directive which came into force earlier this year. This EU legislation restricts the hours drivers can work; and automated systems to keep track of working time are increasingly seen as vital to protecting operators and drivers from prosecution. The seminars are aimed at operators of commercial vehicle fleets, and will be of particular interest to those bound by the Working Time regulations. Talks include presentations by Working Time Directive enforcer VOSA (Vehicle & Operator Services Agency), live traffic information provider ITIS, toll operator M6 Tolls, and legal advisors Fox Hayes.
