Navigator that tracks speed cameras
The locations of 6,000 safety cameras (speed cameras, to use their more common description) are stored in the a personal navigation system launched by Evesham Technology, the UK-based PC manufacturer and supplier. Evesham's BlueMedia BM6300 is a dedicated satellite navigation unit, using the same landscape-format display as that supplied by German satnav specialist Navigon (also offered by Evesham). However, the software in the Evesham version is provided by another supplier, Destinator. The location of speed cameras can be updated online once the unit is registered. The unit can warn drivers when they exceed a specified speed, or when there are cameras in the vicinity. Other features of the Bluemedia unit include address input by town, by postcode or by street; mapping in two or three dimensions; and spoken instructions. A programmable 'home' button can be set to any address or POI (point of interest). Evesham's lowestontheweb.com web site also offers other satnav products, including systems by Mio, Palm and Yakumo.
