Proof of delivery added to Sandpiper mobile suite
Sandpiper Corporation has developed a generic delivery confirmation system to run under its O4 mobile applications architecture for Pocket PCs. It includes a range of features such as drop-down menus, on-screen signature capture and integration with back-office systems. The company says it would be appropriate for a wide range of industries such as transport and logistics, consumer packaged goods, industrial products, medical devices, pharmaceuticals and field service. Sandpiper, a developer and mobile integrator, takes an unusually holistic approach to mobile systems development. For instance, the company supplies an O4 Workbench system to help users develop mobile applications and link them with office-based systems. Features of the local system include 'hot buttons', multimedia support and video support. The company sees mobile computers not just as data capture and communication resources for routine functions, but also as potential tools for customer presentations and similar uses. It already supplies a package specifically targeting logistics and transport, providing functions such as warehouse management, field sales and service management, and offers unusual all-inclusive rental terms.
