Value handheld launched by Symbol
An addition to Symbol's handheld computer range has been announced in the form of the MC1000, which is described as 'a value-priced enterprise mobility tool'. It is seen as ideal for what Symbol terms emerging markets and small to medium-sized businesses. The specification is modern without being cutting-edge, including for instance an Intel XScale processor rated at 312MHz, with 32MB of RAM and 32MB of flash ROM. The operating system is Windows CE 4.2 Core. The environmental rating is IP54. The display is 320 by 320 pixel monochrome. Symbol says it has many potential applications, including inventory management and re-ordering, warehouse and distribution, picking and cycle count, and van sales drivers and delivery confirmation.
