Waveform and Handheld work together on food traceability
As food distributors and manufacturers come to grips with EU legislation demanding greater traceability of food, Irish-based data capture specialist Waveform Solutions has come up with a solution to help them meet the new requirements. EU regulation EU 178/2002 came into effect in January, and requires organisations to ensure traceability of all goods in production, processing and distribution phases. Waveform's solution incorporates a range of a range of mobile and RF (radio frequency) technologies to provide full traceability of goods from arrival through to processing and despatch. On the hardware side, the company is working with mobile computer specialist Hand Held Products, while for printing out data it uses thermal printing equipment from Zebra Technologies. The company says its solutions also improve stock accuracy, increase pick rates and reduce errors, and can be fully integrated with ERP and other back-office systems.
