Sockets PDA scanner gains SAP connectivity
The tiny SD-based Scan Card scanner for PDAs and mobile devices is now compatible with the SAP NetWeaver mobile platform, according to manufacturer Socket Communications. The company has released a Series 3 driver package which is said to make the scanner ready for any mobile application developed by SAP or other vendors and interfaced to SAP solutions through SAP NetWeaver Mobile. Socket's SD Scan Card combines Socket's Battery Friendly SDIO technology with what is said to be the world's smallest barcode scanner. Drawing only 8.0 mA (24.4 mW) in idle mode, the SD Scan Card uses minimal power and operates for hours without the need for the PDA battery to be replaced or recharged. If needed, the included SocketScan software sends scanned data directly into any Windows or Palm application as virtual keystrokes without the need for custom programming.
