Smoother path to Bluetooth
Making electronic devices and applications compatible with Bluetooth wireless networking should be easier in future, thanks to a new initiative by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group, which is responsible for steering and promoting the development of Bluetooth-based technologies. The thrust takes the form of a new 'program' which aims to automate much of the 'qualification' process (by which devices are approved as conforming to Bluetooth requirements). The organisation's new Qualification Program includes improvements to existing tools as well as completely new developed additions, which are described in a range of supporting documents, tools and events. These include the Program Reference Document (PRD 2.0), the Profile Tuning Suite, an online Test Plan Generator, the Qualification Listing Interface and the Enhanced UnPlugFests.
