Street furniture specialist saves by tracking
Acorn Lighting Services, a street furniture maintenance company based in Yorkshire, says it has improved the productivity of its vehicle fleet by more than 11 per cent since introducing the C-track tracking and fleet management system from Digicore. It has also reduced overtime claims and fuel consumption. There have been other benefits, too. Acorn says C-track has allowed it to complete jobs more quickly and effectively. And real-time vehicle tracking has enabled the company to provide a more responsive maintenance service. In addition, enhanced reporting capability provides customers with an accurate breakdown of work undertaken. The company operates a 20-strong fleet, made up largely of access platform vehicles and lorry loading trucks operating from two bases in Harrogate and Stockport. Acorn is using both real-time and historical data to ensure mobile assets and employees are operating to their full potential. It says improved fleet visibility has increased the company's daily job count, whilst exception reporting has identified where under-performance is occurring.
Fleet security has also been improved, the company says. The Digicore system offers vehicle status alerts via text message and a configurable geofencing capability. Acorn receives immediate warning of any unauthorised movements, enabling it to minimise the potential impact of vehicle crime on its business.
