Enterprise mobility offering from Apresta
A new offering in the field of wireless access to corporate networks has been launched on the UK market in the form of Apresta, an enterprise solution from Saratoga Systems. Its announcement follows on from the decision taken earlier this year to promote Apresta as a free-standing brand alongside that of Saratoga. Apresta is described as the first wholly configurable multi-channel access gateway. It allows user-companies to provide mobile workers with real-time access via any browser-equipped device to multiple back-end systems, including CRM, ERP and financials. Suggested applications include managing accounts and opportunities, checking inventory, tracking shipments and customer support, and verifying billing status. The company says Apresta currently supports an extensive array of wireless devices including BlackBerry, Pocket PC, Smartphone, TREO and HP iPAQ, and all wireless networks. US-based Saratoga itself is a specialist in customer relationship management, and is unashamedly pitching Apresta against the offerings of rival ERP and CRM giants. It claims that although they often boast modules that allow wireless access, "only Apresta will allow access to such a wide variety of data from a single point of entry."
