An integrated mobility platform for automating field service tasks is the planned outcome of a relationship struck by Dexterra, the mobile solutions specialist, and Symbol, the mobile hardware manufacturer.

The two companies say it will take the form of a suite of "change-ready" technologies and solutions, which will empower mobile workers to take full advantage of users' existing investment in back-office legacy enterprise systems.

By becoming a "premier member" of Symbol Technologies' PartnerSelect ISV (Independent Software Vendor) Partner Program, Dexterra also strengthens links with other such partners, and one mentioned in the initial announcement is PEAK Technologies, a Symbol reseller.

The three companies have already worked together to develop mobility applications in the life sciences, consumer goods and energy markets.
