Second-generation tracking adds value for heating engineers
Hepburn Engineering, one of four Scottish-based operators recently placing orders for a Cybit telematics system (m.logistics, last issue), is no newcomer to vehicle tracking systems. It has emerged that the company was previously using a "first-generation" tracking system (it prefers not to say which one this was). According to managing director Ross Hepburn: "This system had limited functionality, and we were ideally looking for an Internet-based solution." The company is an independent heating and engineering specialist, and chose the original system in order to monitor its mobile workforce in real time, as well as to enhance its duty of care observance and optimise the level of service it provided to its customers. The Cybit system will maintain these benefits, while also adding extra functionality. Hepburn cites the very detailed data, the advanced Web-based management system, and the fact that information on details such as locations, speeds and distances travelled is transmitted in real time.
