Wireless job management from Skillweb

A wireless job management system has been added to the mobile application suite offered by Skillweb, building it out further towards becoming a comprehensive mobile management system.

The new product, Task Control Manager (or TCM), is designed to help users manage the work load of mobile and home workers, enabling them to receive tasks and return status reports to the office.

In the office, there is a Web-based task allocation system, through which managers can allocate tasks, view work in progress and check on completed jobs. This application in turn has an interface with the organisation's legacy systems, from which it pulls down task information and reports.

At the mobile end, the system delivers the job information via GPRS to a choice of mobile devices, which can include anything from PDAs to fully-specified rugged handheld terminals.

Skillweb says the implementation process will usually involve a joint project team, which will determine both user screen configurations and management reports.

TCM joins Skillweb's existing mobile applications, 2020ePOD (a proof of delivery management system) and Track & Trace Manager (a related tracking system).
