Windows 5 push email and messaging for Notes
As "push" mobile email systems based on Windows Mobile 5.0 become increasingly popular, especially in the business community, developer CommonTime has spotted a potential gap in the market for users who want to "push" emails to these devices from Lotus Notes or Domino servers. It has therefore launched a new software release, mSuite 4.1a, which not only delivers "push" email from Notes to Windows Mobile 5.0, but also provides Lotus Notes Instant Messaging for Windows Mobile 5 devices. The company says it has been spurred into developing this product by the emergence of new devices such as the i-mate Jas Jar, promoted as the first G3-enabled GSM/GPRS mini-laptop phone with Wi-Fi. This and similar devices can now benefit from instant messaging, CommonTime says, plus wireless push email which retains rich Lotus Notes functionality. Capabilities include follow-up flags and room/resource booking, using mSuite calendaring.
CommonTime claims that its mNotes solution is "the only game in town" for introducing a desktop-like Lotus Notes messaging experience to PDAs and smartphones.
