Jan/Feb 2006 Larger display in new Teklogix truckmount A large 10.4in colour display is the most obvious distinguishing feature of the Psion Teklogix 8530 vehicle-mount computer - a new model from this supplier. It is based on the existing 8525 unit, which has an 8.8in VGA screen. The company says it believes the extra screen area will be ideal for applications such as transport. That doesn't necessarily mean it's aimed at mobile operations, but rather for use in warehouses, transport depots, dock environments and factories. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth networking and barcode and RFID scanning. Like the 8525, the new model features an Intel XScale processor and runs under Windows CE.Net, and is available with a detachable keyboard as an option to touchscreen operation. Other 9525 peripherals also work with it. It has an IP66 dust and water resistance rating, and is said to be happy at temperatures as low as minus 22¡F (-30¡C).
