All-makes remote device management from Psion Teklogix
Mobile device management is tackled head-on by a software solution launched by Psion Teklogix. It is said to be able to provide central management not just of all the company's own handheld and vehicle-mount mobile computers, but also of most Windows CE and Windows Mobile devices from competing suppliers. Known as the Mobile Control Centre (MCC), the solution is designed to allow IT administrators to manage all mobile devices in the warehouse or in the field from a single central point. Psion says it allows them to control and monitor devices, generate activity and asset reports, distribute or update software on devices, configure applications and devices, control devices remotely, and troubleshoot and correct problems. Attractive additional features include remote training and instant message broadcasting to the mobile workforce. And administrators working at the management console are also given the capability to "lock down" specific devices, restricting worker access to authorised applications and protecting confidential information in the event of theft or loss.
