LXE terminals approved for Voxware voice applications
In what could be a further indication of growing confidence in the appeal of voice-directed picking operations, voice-driven logistics specialist Voxware has certified a selection of rugged mobile computers from LXE as compatible with its VoiceXML Browser, VoxBrowser. In the past, voice-directed hardware tended to be supplier-specific, but growing links between Voxware and third-party hardware suppliers such as LXE suggest a more open approach. According to LXE president and general manager Jim Childress: "Our customers will no longer be locked into expensive, proprietary voice hardware." LXE's VX6 and VX7 are said to be the first voice-enabled, vehicle-mounted computers to be used in voice-driven logistics applications, while its MX3X and MX7 are described as next-generation, dual-use, handheld computers.
