Rugged RFID handheld with low-temperature capabilities
Psion Teklogix has launched an RFID-enabled low-temperature version of its flagship 7530 handheld terminal. The company claims it is the first product of its kind to be RFID-enabled and also durable enough for frozen storage applications. Like the standard ruggedised 7530, it is a Windows CE .Net-based device, and incorporates the Psion Teklogix RD7950 UHF RFID Reader, an EPC GEN2-compliant 900MHz RFID reader. The company says extreme toughness, flexibility, integration capabilities and ergonomics make the RFID version ideal for use in freezers, ports and container yards, and for wide-area mobile computing applications. It has a high dust and water resistance rating of IP67, and can operate in condensing environments between 5 and 96 per cent relative humidity. It can operate at temperatures as low as minus 30 deg C and withstand multiple drops to concrete from 2 metres. Standard 7530 features include Intel XScale processor, 802.11 wireless networking technology, Bluetooth, RFID and SNMP.
