Enhanced trailer tracking from Secureseal
An enhanced trailer tracking and fleet information system has been launched by Secureseal, the company that specialises in security seals for loads, and is a leader in this market. The launch marks a further step in the company's expansion into related data logging, tracking and monitoring systems. This latest product harnesses a range of technologies, including RFID to transmit data between vehicle and trailer, and GPRS to send it back to base. The actual detection of the trailer's location relies on a low-power RF (radio frequency) network within the confines of a depot or other location. Ideally the system is intended to be used in conjunction with the company's reusable security seal the system, and can then also provide a full seal audit trail, as well as notifying the operators of any seal violations. Refrigerated trailer temperatures can also be monitored. Location data can be updated at any frequency from ten minutes to twice each day according to the operator's requirements. Other features include searching by trailer or site, automatic notifications when MOT tests are due, and alerts to report servicing requirements and "absent trailer".
