SITA Airport Services has chosen Dolphin handheld terminals from Hand Held Products for what is described as a state-of-the-art baggage processing system it has been developing at Birmingham, Aberdeen, Edinburgh and London Gatwick airports.

According to solution design manager Phil Crowder-Johnson: "The airports wanted a unit that would be much more robust in an industrial environment than the equipment they were using before. Other important criteria included ergonomics and operability."

For the Birmingham, Aberdeen and Edinburgh operations, SITA chose the high-performance, compact Dolphin 7300RF. For Gatwick, it picked the Dolphin 9550, which incorporates a triple-radio facility.
