A fully-fledged vehicle tracking and monitoring system for refrigerated fleets, TracKing, has been developed by Thermo King, the refrigeration specialist, and was due for launch at this year's CV Show in Birmingham.

Limited tracking and remote monitoring have been available from refrigeration manufacturers for some time, but this development appears to take the company more squarely into the realms of conventional fleet tracking and management.

TracKing is a Web-based tracking and temperature monitoring system using GPRS technology. The system feeds back the current temperature at regular time intervals, and can also download temperature history from the on-board dataloggers. It is said to be compatible with all Thermo King truck and trailer refrigeration units.
