Position updates every minute
Vehicle position updates once a minute - this is a standard feature being promoted with SuperTrak, one of the more recent tracking systems on the market. It comes from CMS of Swindon. Updates at 30-second intervals are an option. In fact, the frequency of polling doesn't come top in the company's own list of attractions. Where SupaTrak stand out above other tracking solutions, the company says, is in the fact that it can be upgraded easily to include CMS's extended mobile solutions. These are based on its Mobile Worker application, which allows jobs or scheduled tasks to be transmitted to workers as they are booked, in real time. Updates are captured automatically, including customer sign-off and proof of delivery. The underlying tracking system comprises a "black box" GPS/GPRS modem and combined GPS/GSM antenna, and delivers Web browser-based mapping to ensure that vehicles are visible at all times. Comprehensive reporting is offered, and includes start/stop and historic "snail trail" monitoring. Options include full European mapping, a GPS connection to a PDA (for satellite navigation), and the ability to link with all existing collection devices and back-office systems.
