US fleet opts for Microlise telematics solution
In a significant coup for the UK's telematics industry, US-based Restaurant Technologies has chosen Microlise America, which is related to the UK company, to implement a real-time mobile logistics solution for its delivery fleet. The project is worth $500,000. The system is intended to deliver major improvements in delivery and billing by eliminating paperwork and duplicate data entry, allowing instant issue of accurate invoices for products at the point of delivery. It will be based on the Microlise Fleet and Distribution portfolio of solutions. It will include Symbol mobile data terminals and Zebra printers, which will be installed in 100 delivery vehicles operating from 30 depots across North America. The solution includes real-time proof of delivery processing and real-time invoicing. In addition, it will provide drivers with last-mile satellite navigation and monitor driver location and performance. Restaurant Technologies provides services to catering kitchens, notably in the field of hot oil supply and disposal. According to national fleet manager Anthony Pellegrino: "This project will transform the fleet from traditional delivery vehicles into state-of-the-art sales tools." Microlise America markets Microlise products and technologies in the US. It is a division of Strategic Systems & Technology Corporation, a Florida-based data capture specialist which was appointed US reseller for Microlise last year.
