Summer 2006
BlackBerry for small businesses from BT
Small businesses can now access the BlackBerry mobile email service through BT, without having to worry about having to feed their messages through a corporate email server (which was part of the original BlackBerry proposition). BT is now offering users the BlackBerry Internet Service, already available through selected service providers elsewhere. Basically this taps into their existing desktop email accounts (up to ten of them), using "push" technology to send messages to the mobile units as well as to the normal destination. Users can synchronise their emails, address books and diary details directly with their PC in the office. They can also set up a separate email account dedicated to use on the BlackBerry. The service includes instant messaging by either Yahoo! Messenger or Google Talk. Users can also view popular graphic and document attachments such as PDF, TIFF, JPEG, GIF, DOC and PPT.
