E-procurement on the move
A company called Cost Reduction claims to be the first in its field to be offering a full PDA-based e-procurement system. It taps into the organisation's existing Web-based CutCost procurement package, giving users 60 per cent of the functionality found on the PC version. Functions available to mobile users include access to catalogues, product searching, variable print creation, multiple supplier, per catalogue, baskets, orders, returns and authorisations. Users can also have emailed copies of electronic transactions sent direct to their devices, and can order fixed- and variable-text pdf print products whilst on the move. Additional features planned for the system include order authorisation and product stock call-off features. The existing system is well established. Suppliers offering products through it include names such as Lyreco and Zerox. It is free to buyers, as is the new PDA-based version. The mobile version runs on various platforms including Windows Pocket PC, Palm OS and BlackBerry.
