Summer 2006
Faster Jet handheld from Datalogic
Speed and versatility have been enhanced in an upgraded version 5 of Datalogic's stylish Jet PDA-style ruggedised handheld computer. The new model is built round Intel's latest PXA 270 microprocessor running at 520 MHz, which compares with 400MHz in the previous version. This processor is said to optimise the performance of Windows CE and to offer a future-proof solution for buyers. The operating system has moved on from Windows CE 4.2 .Net in the original to CE 5.0, and the amount of system memory goes up from 64MB to 128MB, while flash memory jumps from 32 to 128MB. Datalogic has also added a Mini SD card slot, making it possible to expand the memory for data backup operations and storage.
As before, the Jet can use Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GSM/GPRS communications, and Bluetooth is included as standard. And the water and dust resistance rating remains at IP64.
