Three plus Seven - winning numbers in the mobile market?
Third-generation mobile network phone operator 3 has announced its first UK-based services for small businesses and home workers, having previously limited its marketing initiatives to the consumer sector. Its initial foray into this market includes a "push" always-on email service provided in association with SEVEN Networks, which can deliver secure real-time access to emails, attachments, contacts and calendar information. There is also a new range of business price plans, which include the option to combine mobile mail with an Internet email account or office-based Exchange or Lotus email. 3 says the Mobile Mail option, which includes 10MB of data per month for £2.50, should meet the needs of most small business users. The enhanced version, Mobile Office Mail, includes 15MB of data per month for £5.00. 3 has also launched two new smartphones targeting the data as well as voice market. The Nokia E61 smartphone, with QWERTY keyboard, runs on the Symbian platform, while the QTEK 9000 runs under Windows Mobile, and features a revolving screen for enhanced Web browsing.
