Faster scanning handheld from Casio
Casio has upgraded its large-screen handgrip-style handheld terminal. The new DT-X11 is Windows CE 5.0-based, and has a 400MHz processor, 64MB RAM and 192MB flash ROM. By comparison, the existing DT-X10's Intel processor runs at 300MHz, and the operating system is Windows CE .Net 4.1. The new unit is described as suitable for general transport and logistics applications, and is particularly strong on scanning capabilities. It comes with a choice scanning engines, including a high-speed laser scanner rated at 100 scans per second and a C-MOS Imager. The company says it has an improved focal range of 4in, equipping it better than previous models for small capturing one- and two-dimensional barcodes. Bluetooth local wireless networking is built in, and GPRS or other networking capabilities can be added via a PCMCIA slot. CF card expansion is available via a CF card extension unit. The unit is IP64 rated for dust and water splash protection, and Casio says it has been drop-tested to concrete from 1.2 metres. The operating temperature range is from minus 20 deg C to plus 50 deg C.
