Five things you never knew a handheld could do (or did you?)
Hand Held Products has come up with its top five list of unusual ways to use data collection devices. The activities aren't as risqué as the headline might suggest, but they're intriguing nonetheless. They are: 1. Measuring the fuel level during gas deliveries. The device is connected to an electronic head that measures the level of gas left in the truck. 2. Photographing payable cheques to send the results electronically to a bank. A cleaning company apparently does this. 3. Taking orders, processing credit card transactions and printing receipts in restaurants and aircraft and at outdoor events (we knew that). 4. Checking vending machines via Bluetooth link to see which products need replenishing. 5. Noting mileage and fuel level of returned rental cars, and photographing possible damage. So there you go.
