The Fleetstar-Online vehicle tracking and asset management system is being expanded by its supplier, Cybit, to offer users a more comprehensive mobile worker management capability.

This new dimension is provided by an optional extra feature called Fleetstar-MRM (Mobile Resource Management), which the company says offers users comprehensive live management for ongoing jobs.

Fleetstar-MRM integrates real-time data on job progress and status from mobile workflow applications - typically those using PDAs in the field - with the Fleetstar-Online telematics-based solution, which tracks the vehicle's location.

The company says this enables fleet operators to examine productivity more critically, matching expected time for jobs with actual progress, and helps them identify instances when engineers are running ahead of or behind schedule.

 

It stops short of actually handling job allocation and management in its own right, but provides what chief executive Richard Horsman calls "a much higher granularity of management information".

He adds: "Integrating these two technologies together gives businesses the two key pieces of information they need - engineer status and vehicle location - to adapt to changing circumstances and meet their service-level agreements."
